Jake Turns 21

Ok, not 21 in actual years, but we were priviliged to have just completed Jake’s 21st shoot for the BeautifulYouth Project.

We scheduled an early shoot, as Jake is heavily involved in dance- he has recently become a member of one of California’s top hip-hop dance companies, and had an audition right after the shoot for a large production of this coming holiday season’s Nutcracker ballet.

We began shooting in jeans and t-shirt, and then moved on to try a more experimental idea that I adapted from a European photographer friend, Roman. A mixture of an experimental idea from Roman and the current crop of silk flier gymnasts now popular in American and Asian circuses, we had Jake experiment with red-and-white silk cloths, and let him play around as we let the shoot move experientally and in a free-form fashion. We’re very excited about the results, and we’re also excited about modifying the idea and trying it out with other models.

As always, I was impressed with Jake’s natural ability and ease in front of the camera, and his natural beauty shined forth. We hope you will enjoy this set from Jake!
